Beira city wins international award for risk preparedness

Beira, Mozambique’s second biggest city became the first city to win the international RISK award for its outstanding preparedeness and work in the protection of vulnerable townships.

According to UNISDR, the 450,000 people of Beira are extremely vulnerable to floods, especially those that happen at night with little warning in townships up to 10 metres below sea level.”
